MAE Center Receives Contract from Northrop Grumman to Support FEMA’s National Exercise Division

Northrop Grumman Technical Services has awarded the MAE Center a contract to support their efforts for FEMA’s National Exercise Division (NED). The Center will be refining earthquake impact modeling results it produced for FEMA’s New Madrid Catastrophic Planning Initiative (NMCPI). For the NMCPI project, the Center modeled potential earthquake impacts to states in the Central U.S. from a catastrophic, magnitude 7.7 New Madrid earthquake. Results from the NMCPI project can be found in the Phase II report .

The efforts for this new project will focus on producing GIS and associated database information for emergency management and exercise experts from the eight Central U.S. states that will be participating in FEMA’s 2011 National Level Exercise (NLE 2011). In addition to delivering the data the Center will conduct briefings about project results for each of the eight states. The project is scheduled for completion in April 2010.
